An Environmental Scientist turned skincare professional!
Hanna Tesfai Woldemariam came to Los Angeles, CA (USA) in 1998 after being crowned Miss Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 1997. Although she never pursued a life in fashion in the United States, the passion for beauty and health persisted in her lifestyle. She has always been passionate about healthy skin, clean eating and overall health. Hanna proceeded to get her education from North Carolina State University (NCSU) where she graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science and Geographic Informations Systems (GIS). After graduating, she worked as a consultant for North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) as an Environmental Scientist, Environmental Planner and Traffic Noise Analysts. As someone who has struggled to find products that caters to skin of color and especially “Habesha” skin, she decided to venture out and start her own skincare line that solely focuses on that. Maraki Skin offers products that are organic, vegan, paraben free, sulfate free and cruelty free. With her background in Environmental Science, she is very passionate not just about a skincare product that works well, but also that is clean and environmentally sustainable.
